About My Science Project

What was it about?

How did I accomplish this?

How did I accomplish this?

The premise of my Science Project was simple. To find out just how much plastic sinks from the surface of the water down to the depths, and just how far it sinks. To do this, I replicated the salinity of a few of our major oceans and placed plastic into those tanks.

I bought 3 big tanks of water and I added the correct amount of salt. Then, I placed both cut and uncut plastics into each tanks and closely monitored how the plastics sunk or floated over the next 21 days. The results were interesting to say the least.

Successes

My project ended up being immensely successful, with me making it out of my school, county, state and into the nationals competition (Broadcom Masters). This has only served to increase my love of not only protecting our oceans, but of making changes.
