6th GRADE PROJECT (Genius Hour)

In 6th Grade, the only thing that I really wanted to do to change the world was to help the Homeless. And that's what I did. By utilising a school project called Genius Hour, I began to work. First of all, I had to plan my project.

Planning wasn't too difficult, and preparing was much of the same. But here's where it got tough. In order to donate at a vast amount of supplies and truly make a difference in my area, I had to do a fundraiser. This was my first time doing such a thing, so, without a doubt, this was going to be tough. But I persevered, and with everything that I had done, it payed off and I donated to the Friendship Shelter @ Laguna, Now it was time to reflect. I had done well, but I had to donate more. Sometimes it's as simple as doing more to impact more, so, the next time around, I hatched a plan.

This time, I focussed most of Donations from my class rather than funding it out of my own pocket. This strategy proved amazing. My peers were helpful and soon, I had doubled the value of my Donations, with donations flowing in even as summer neared. It was amazing the amount of clothes, toys, and supplies that I had gathered, and I felt that I was truly making a difference!

Now, the year is over and I have spent nearly 9 months on this project, and now, I think I've done myself justice and made a difference. Now, it's time to focus on the next part, my Science Fair!
